FAQ
When does Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis release?
September 24, 2026, on PC, iOS and Android.
What time does it unlock?
The Steam store lists 13:00 UTC on September 24, which is 21:00 in Beijing and 09:00 in New York. Ironhide has not published a per-region table, so treat that as an estimate. See the release date page for the conversions.
Has the game been delayed?
No. The date was announced in June 2026 and has not moved.
What platforms is it on?
PC through Steam, plus iOS and Android. Steam supports Windows and macOS.
Is there a PS5, Xbox or Switch version?
Not announced. No console version of Genesis has ever been mentioned.
Does it run on Mac?
Yes. The Steam build is macOS compatible, with a native Apple-Silicon version that is notarized.
Is there a Linux version?
No. Steam lists Windows and macOS only.
What are the minimum PC specs?
Windows 10, a dual-core CPU, 4 GB of RAM and a 64-bit system. Recommended specs have not been published.
Can I play it on PC with an Android emulator?
Yes, though the Steam version makes it unnecessary. Running the Android build in an emulator is the route for people who want that build on a desktop, and the emulator guide covers three of them and the setup.
Can I still play the demo?
No. The demo ended on 6 July 2026 and was delisted.
Where can I download the demo?
Nowhere. The Steam demo app no longer resolves, and no official download exists.
Will the demo come back?
No return has been announced.
How much does the game cost?
No price has been announced on any platform. Steam shows no price field at all.
Is it $6.99?
That figure comes from media reports about the mobile version. Ironhide has not confirmed it, so we label it unconfirmed.
Can I pre-order on Steam?
No. Steam offers wishlisting only, with no purchase option before launch.
Can I pre-order on mobile?
You can pre-register on Google Play and the App Store. That is a notification signup, not a purchase.
Is there a collector's edition or physical release?
No. Neither has been announced.
How many campaign stages are there?
Eighteen, across three regions. An early presskit draft said nineteen and that figure is still being copied by some sites.
What are the three regions?
The Citadel, Stormcloud Depths and Arcania.
Is Genesis a remake of the 2011 game?
No. It is an original time-travel prequel with a new campaign, new factions, new mechanics and a new story. Classic Mode is an additional mode, not the campaign.
What is Classic Mode?
A mode that restores the four original tower lines from the 2011 game, redrawn, played with one hero and only Rain of Fire and Reinforcements. All 24 tower names are covered on the Classic towers page.
How many game modes are there?
Five, selectable per stage: Iron Challenge, Blitz Challenge, Hero Party, Spell Rush and Classic Mode.
Which mode has no heroes?
Spell Rush. It removes heroes and speeds up spells.
Which mode has no spells?
Hero Party. It gives you four heroes and removes spells entirely.
How many towers are there?
Fifteen. You bring five into any single stage.
How many towers have been named?
Ten confirmed, plus one unclear reference, leaving four unrevealed. See the towers page.
Does the game still have individual tower upgrades?
No. That system was removed in July 2026 and replaced with global upgrades. The upgrade system page explains the change.
Do heroes and spells still upgrade individually?
Yes. The removal applied to towers. Heroes and spells each keep their own upgrade trees.
What is the double XP catch-up rule?
Heroes and spells behind your highest-level unit earn double XP until they catch up.
How many heroes are there?
Twelve in total. Eleven have been named and one slot is unrevealed. See the heroes page.
Can I use two heroes at once?
Yes, two per stage, a mechanic carried over from Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance.
Which heroes are free?
The first four: Gerald Lightseeker, Zefira, Bolin Farslayer and Connor.
Are the heroes from earlier games?
Six of them are returning characters, mostly from the 2011 game, plus Ashbite from Frontiers.
How many spells are there?
Nine, and you equip three before each stage. Six have been named. See the spells page.
Is there multiplayer or co-op?
No. The game is single-player with no co-op or competitive mode.
Is there an endless mode?
No endless or wave-survival mode has been announced.
Is there a speed-up button?
Not in the demo, and we found no announcement of one. The demo did let you launch waves early. We are treating this as unconfirmed for the release build.
Who are the bosses?
Ironhide has confirmed six boss fights and has named none of them. We do not invent names. See the enemies page.
Who is the villain?
Vez'nan, the franchise's central antagonist, appears here as a young man. The story is about the moment he turned. See the characters page.
What is the story about?
Gerald Lightseeker is sent back in time after Vez'nan attacks the Kingdom, to stop the Dark Wizard before his corruption takes hold. The story page has the details.
Do I need to play the older games first?
No. Genesis is a prequel with an original story, and Classic Mode is a bonus rather than required knowledge. The series background page will orient you in one table if you want context.
Is Kingdom Rush 6 the last game in the series?
Nothing has been announced either way.
