All Five Game Modes

Genesis ships with five challenge modes, selectable per stage: Iron Challenge, Blitz Challenge, Hero Party, Spell Rush and Classic Mode. Each rewrites the rules rather than scaling enemy health. Classic Mode brings back the four original tower lines with one hero and two classic spells.

Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis has five challenge modes, chosen per stage, on top of the campaign itself. They are not difficulty sliders. Each one removes or rewrites a rule, which is why the mode list is the fastest way to understand what the game considers its core pillars: towers, heroes and spells. The gameplay overview covers the core loop these modes modify.

The Five Modes

ModeRules as published
Iron ChallengeOne elite wave and one life in total. A single mistake ends it
Blitz ChallengeThree waves, faster enemies, increased gold gain, faster spells, three lives
Hero PartyFour heroes and no spells at all
Spell RushNo heroes, faster spells, three lives
Classic ModeOne hero, the classic tower lines only, and only Rain of Fire and Reinforcements

Notice what Hero Party and Spell Rush do between them: they split the game's three pillars apart, so you must win with two of the three. That is a much more interesting design than simply raising enemy statistics.

Iron Challenge

One wave and one life. The single wave is an elite force rather than a normal wave with bigger numbers, and there is no recovery from a leak. This mode tests tower placement and timing in isolation, because you have no room to absorb a mistake while your defences come online.

Blitz Challenge

Three waves, faster enemies, more gold per kill, faster spell cooldowns and three lives. Blitz inverts the usual economy: you are given resources generously and asked to spend them under time pressure. It is the mode that punishes slow decision-making rather than poor planning.

Hero Party

Four heroes, no spells. Since you normally field two heroes and equip three spells, this mode doubles the hero count and removes the spell layer entirely. Combo chains between heroes become the whole game.

Spell Rush

No heroes, faster spells, three lives. The mirror image of Hero Party. With no heroes to reposition or micromanage, the entire encounter runs on tower placement and spell timing.

Classic Mode

Classic Mode is the mode aimed squarely at series veterans, introduced for the franchise's 15th anniversary. It restores the four original tower lines from the 2011 game, redrawn from scratch in the Genesis art style rather than reused, with one hero and only Rain of Fire and Reinforcements as spells.

The full tower lineages are published, and they are the most complete official content block about this game that exists. The Classic towers page documents all of them.

How Modes Relate To Difficulty

Steam lists "adjustable difficulty" as a separate store feature from the mode system. That suggests the campaign itself scales independently of the five modes, and that the modes are optional per-stage challenges rather than settings you pick once.

There is no Heroic Challenge or Iron mode in the classic sense in the published list, and no endless or wave-survival mode. If the game adds either, it will not have been announced at the time of this page's fact-check date.

Mode Naming, And Why It Confuses People

Ironhide uses Classic Mode and Classic Rush interchangeably in its own material, and media coverage has also used "Iron mode" and "Rush Mode" loosely. The five names in the table above come from Ironhide's own mode announcement and are the authoritative set. Where a source uses a variant name, it is usually referring to one of these five rather than describing a sixth mode.
